How to Choose Your Patio Furniture Style

With the long summer days ahead of us, there is a natural craving to be outside more often. With that, it’s time to update your patio furniture and accessories to match your mood. Whether you’re going for a mid-century modern style or a chic spa oasis, textiles, furnishings, and accessories are key in accomplishing a sleek outdoor scene. Below are five fresh patio furniture styles for summer 2016.

1. Nothing but neutral

An oldie but goodie, neutral colors and patterns have never been more “in.” When styling your outdoor space, look for white or beige cushions, classic wicker furniture, and light-colored decor to accessorize your space. Neutral, sandy colors are so versatile and can be dressed up or down. If you’re throwing a soiree and want to perk up the space, it’s easy to add in a bright pop of teal or yellow. Complement your polished patio with a glass-top coffee table and a stack of stylish reads.

2. Inside out

Outdoor furniture doesn’t have to be boring! Think of your outdoor space as an extension of the interior of your home and use it to reflect your personal style. Break down the barrier between your kitchen and backyard by recreating a dining and entertainment area on your patio. An outdoor seating arrangement for guests makes your summer dinner parties and cocktail nights much more elegant and enchanting. Add indoor elements like lamps, a console table, and trays and vases to complete the look.

3. Beautifully beach-y

There’s nothing quite like coastal-inspired design, especially for outdoor areas. Whether you’re looking to style your front or backyard space, beach-inspired elements are always a great choice. Take the classic blue and white color palette and throw in fresh citrus notes like tangerine with pillows and linens. Accessorize with lanterns and sea-glass for a cozy coastal corner. If you’re looking to take the style in a nautical direction, add candle holders and textiles inspired by the high seas with anchor and seagull patterns. Hanging out in the Hamptons? Tone down the bright colors and play up natural fibers and luxe materials.

4. Spa retreat

After a long day at work, you’re probably craving a little retreat. Take your relaxation outdoors by recreating a spa scene with comfortable furnishings and soothing textiles. Cushioned lounge chairs positioned near the pool or spa are a great way to wind down after a stressful day. Add an oversized umbrella for the times when you’d rather take a nap in the shade, and don’t forget to accessorize with tufted towels and a subdued color palette.

5. Mid-century in Miami

Looking to add glamour to your outdoor space? We recommend the glitz of mid-century patio furniture styles and accessories. Recreate the look of a chic Miami Beach hotel using bright lounge chairs, lanterns, lush plants, and a classic grill. Complete the look with bright accessories and chilled drinks.
