2013 HomeFinder.com Agent Makeover Sweepstakes winner, Antonio Sanchez is approaching his one-year anniversary with Exit Realty in the Bronx, New York. Antonio recaps his Agent Makeover experience below, and shares what he gained during his business and style makeover in Chicago, from September 18-20, 2013.
What were your motivating factors to enter the sweepstakes? Being in the business less than a year, I was doing a lot of online research, social media marketing and networking, so I came across the Agent Makeover Sweepstakes on Facebook during my own digital marketing efforts.
In general, what aspect of your business plan most needs a makeover? My business plan as a whole needs one. I have the set numbers I would like to reach; now I need to develop a strategy to achieve those numbers.
What part of your business do you need the most help with? I work mostly with buyers and I need to be able to work with more sellers.
How do you feel incorporating social media and new technology will help you better interact with current and potential clients? I think social media and technology will help me reach more potential clients, through referrals from family and friends on social media.
What aspects of digital marketing do you find most interesting? I find social media marketing most interesting. At first you think it’s just to connect with friends or family, but in reality it can lead to new business. At one point in almost everyone’s lives, they are looking to buy or sell, so social media is a great place to build referrals.
What aspects of digital marketing can you best apply to your business? HomeFinder.com’s Single Property Websites will help my business grow. My sellers will have their own website for their property, and buyers can easily contact me directly.
What was the most valuable piece of business advice you took away from the makeover? The most valuable piece of advice that I took away was from Doug Breaker (president and CEO, HomeFinder.com). He emphasized the value of SEO and explained the steps I could take to help my website rank higher on Google. Also, business coach Mike Lindstrom (business coach) emphasized the importance of goal setting, writing them down, and making sure I look at them daily.
How will your style makeover help to improve the business side of your business? Looking professional feels good. After the makeover I vowed that I would dress for success every single day that I am working. First impression is very important when meeting with new clients. I will make sure that I look the part every day I am at work!
What was the most important thing you learned? The most important thing that I learned is to make sure potential clients can find me online. If a homebuyer is looking for an agent in my area I need to make sure that I am found first.
Is there one thing you can’t wait to hit the ground running on when you return home? I want to do exactly what business coach Mike Lindstrom has taught us: Write down my goals for my business, family, health, etc. so these goals become tangible and I have a visual to see every day.
As a winner of the sweepstakes, if you had to share one piece of business makeover advice with your real estate colleagues, what would it be? Technology is very important today for real estate agents. My colleagues who have not completely jumped into the new real estate technology will eventually fall behind.
